I must admit that I was skeptical, uncertain and doubtful. Being a Classical and Jazz pianist that has only taught in person one can only imagine these thoughts. Then Covid happened. Our world was changed forever and out of necessity I tried my first lesson over Whatsapp. It went well. I was very surprised. Now over a year later, I have taught hundreds of successful lessons over Whatsapp, Zoom, Google Meet and Facetime.
A strange thing happened. My students were focusing more, concentration levels increased and the net result has surprised me as well as my colleagues who have done the same.

I have a webcam over my piano and I play examples for students. When we pick out music, very often I have it on my computer and then email the music to the student during the lesson. During the week between lessons some students have questions or need a playing example. I record it and send it. Many students write out assignments and then make a photo of it and then email or Whatsapp it to me and then I see what they see. Nothing is lost. Success has been and continues to be wonderful!
